A Little Girl and the Power of a Pendant
A few weeks ago, I had the absolute joy of meeting little Meabh at the Kids Wellness Day, hosted by Danielle Donohoe and little forget me nots trust. Among the raffle prizes that day was one of my Forget Me Not necklaces, and I was so touched to see that Meabh chose it when she won.
When I went over to chat with her and her dad, Christopher, I asked if there was anything she’d like engraved on the back. She looked up at me and quietly said, “Mummy.”
It was such a small, simple word, but it carried so much love, and so much loss. In that moment, my heart ached for her, but it also reminded me exactly why I create the jewellery I do.
With the kind help of a family friend, I was able to add a little something extra for Meabh, her birth flower pendant, with her name engraved on the back. A small touch, so she could always wear her mummy’s pendant close to her own. 🌸
Meabh’s mummy, Leancha, was a truly remarkable woman. Though she’s no longer with us, her love and spirit live on through Meabh and through the incredible ways Christopher keeps her memory alive, including his fundraising efforts for the Northern Ireland Hospice.
If you have a moment, I encourage you to watch the story Christopher shared for Hospice NI, it’s moving, beautiful, and a powerful reminder that love doesn’t end when someone leaves us. It continues in the memories we carry and the lives they’ve touched.
Seeing Meabh wearing a piece that holds her mummy’s memory close to her heart was incredibly moving. It’s moments like these that remind me why I began creating jewellery in the first place — to help families, like my own, hold onto the people they love most.
Thank you, Meabh and Christopher, for letting me be a small part of your story. 💛
