Gold filled jewellery is a fantastic way to introduce gold without breaking the bank.

The difference between gold filled and gold plated items is the amount of gold used over the brass core. Gold filled items must contain, by law, 5% or 1/20 of gold by weight. In contrast gold plated items usually contain a microscopic amount of gold. This means the gold layer on gold plated items can peel or flake very easily exposing the brass core underneath. Because the gold layer on gold filled items is so much thicker it will not peel or flake and with care will last for years.

Gold-filled jewellry has 100x more gold alloy than gold plated and because that layer is so much thicker, it means gold-filled jewellry can last a life time and stands up to wear and tear better than gold plated.

While the gold filled is tarnish resistant and can withstand water, we do not recommend showering or swimming with them.

We encourage you not to unnecessarily overstretch your bracelets. Simply roll them onto your wrists rather than stretching them over.

Simple care of the bracelets will make them last a life time!

HOW TO PREVENT TARNISHING.

STORE STERLING SILVER CORRECTLY. This is the best advice I can give to anyone wanting to slow down the tarnishing process (you cannot prevent tarnishing of STERLING SILVER altogether). You need to store your items in the airtight bag provided or box thereby eliminating exposure to moisture and sulphur gases. Make sure your items are completely dry before putting them in a sealed bag.

Remove your jewellery before swimming and bathing and always put on your jewellery after applying body lotion, perfume, hairspray etc. Avoid wearing jewellery whilst using cleaning products, such as bleach.

HOW TO REMOVE TARNISH

Even if you have followed all the advice the truth is that as you wear your silver jewellery it will gradually tarnish over time.

Follow these steps to remove tarnish:

Remove dust with a lint-free soft cloth. 

Clean in warm soapy water and very gently use a soft toothbrush to get into hard to reach places. 

Dry your item thoroughly. 

Polish using our high quality polishing cloth and store in our tarnish resistant bag.
